New Arsenal signing Ben White has been left out of the England squad for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after failing to recover from Covid-19. The utility defender was a major absentee following the squad announcement towards the end of last week. The latest England squad will prosecute the World Cup qualifiers against Hungary (away), Andorra (home) and Poland (away) later this month.

White was one of the few players to miss out from the latest squad in comparison to the squad that prosecuted the Euro 2020 tournament. From the England squad to Euro 2020, Arsenal star White and three others miss out on the latest squad due to various reasons. The other players to miss out include Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell, Manchester City playmaker Phil Foden and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

Chilwell has not started the season in the Chelsea XI and he has been left out as a result. On their parts, Rashford and Foden are out due to respective injuries which forced them to miss the start of the new season.

Arsenal defender White was unused throughout the Three Lions campaign at the Euro 2020 tournament. He was in the same position as Blues defender Chilwell, while Foden and Rashford featured as their team reached the final.

White was a Brighton and Hove Albion player at the Euro 2020 tournament but he has since moved to Arsenal. The Gunners paid around £50m to secure his signing in what was one of the major transfers this summer. He went on to make his debut in the disappointing defeat to Brentford on the opening weekend of the latest Premier League season. White and Arsenal were beaten 2-0 in their London Derby encounter with newly promoted side Brentford for the first game of the new Premier League campaign.

Covid-19 struck White and Arsenal and the utility defender had to miss out on the Chelsea and Manchester City games which ended in defeats for the Gunners. White would be hoping to return to the Arsenal squad when league duty resumes next week after the international break.
