LEEDS QUINTET OUT OF CHELSEA CLASH

Leeds United will miss as many as five players for the Premier League trip to take on wounded Chelsea on Saturday evening. The Whites have been decimated by injuries and illness ahead of the Chelsea game at Stamford Bridge.

The five Leeds United players out of the Chelsea game are Euro 2020 finalist Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford, Robin Koch, Rodrigo Moreno and club skipper Liam Moore. The last Premier League game at home to newcomers Brentford took its toll on the Leeds United players after Philips, Moore and Bamford picked up respective injuries during the encounter.

England international Bamford returned to Premier League football against Brentford as he scored a last-gasp equaliser to rescue a 2-2 draw. The ex-Chelsea and Middlesbrough attacker missed over two months of football action only for him to return and sustain another injury while celebrating his goal against the Bees. The statement from the club said that Bamford has a hamstring problem from the Brentford game and evolution of the issue is subjected to assessment on a daily basis.

Euro 2020 finalist Philips also sustained a hamstring injury during the Premier League clash with the Bees.Philips has not been able to establish himself in the Leeds United team for long periods since he returned from this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament. Since returning from Euro 2020, Philips has been affected by several injuries.

Apart from Philips and Bamford, Leeds United skipper Liam Cooper also has a hamstring problem and will miss the Chelsea game. It was revealed via a Leeds United statement that he has undergone treatment and that club officials will map out the steps in his recovery.

Leeds United defender Robin Koch has been ill and he will miss the Chelsea game as a result alongside Spanish attacker Rodrigo who has a heel problem.
