Keane slams De Gea’s goalkeeping mistake against Everton

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has slammed the goalkeeping mistake made by David de Gea during the Red Devils’ Premier League clash at Everton. The Spain international dwelled too long in possession and that allowed Dominic Calvert-Lewin to close down his clearance and deflect the ball into the net.


The Red Devils shot-stopper managed to redeem himself with a superb diving save few moments late but the damage was already made as the club only managed a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park. Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane was far from impressed with the performance of the United ace and said that he would have lynched him at the interval.

Joachim Loew insists Germany are not Euro 2020 favourites

Germany head coach Joachim Loew has said that his team are unlikely to be among the favourites when the Euro 2020 tournament begins next summer. Loew’s side have gone through a transition following their shock group stage exit at the 2018 World Cup and they are currently on course to qualify for Euro 2020 barring any major mishap.


Speaking in a press conference, Loew stressed that Germany are no longer among the European powerhouses and the likes of Netherlands, Spain and England are the ones to watch out for next summer, considering they have stuck with a settled squad, he told: “We don’t belong to the tournament favourites. France, England have been playing with the same players for years. There are the Dutch, Spain.”

Southgate explains Tomori’s maiden England call-up for Euro 2020 qualifiers

England manager Gareth Southgate has said that Fikayo Tomori’s selection for the Three Lions resulted from the fact that he has been performing consistently over the past year. The young centre-back made his breakthrough under manager Frank Lampard in late August and he has since been an undisputed starter in the Premier League and Europe.


Speaking in a press conference, Southgate reserved praise for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, who has taken the incentive to offer opportunities to a number of young players. He added that Tomori has been on the radar since his under-20 World Cup success with the Young Lions and the upcoming internationals will allow him to have a close look on the centre-back.

Callum Wilson sets goalscoring target ahead of Euro 2020

England international Callum Wilson is looking to achieve the 20-goal target for the forthcoming season as he aims to make the national squad for Euro 2020. The striker had a relatively injury-free campaign last term where he contributed 16 goals for club and country and he is hoping to better those statistics during the course of the 2019/2020 season.


Speaking to The Mirror, Wilson said that he wants to at least score 20 goals and he needs to be more clinical upfront when compared to the previous campaign. The 27-year-old added that he wants to make a mark at the forthcoming European Championships and hopefully, he can play compete or play alongside skipper Harry Kane for the centre-forward role.

Toni Kroos has said that unpredictable Germany can win Euro 2020

Toni Kroos has said that the unpredictable nature of the current Germany squad can propel them to success at Euro 2020. The Germans faced a shock group stage exit at the 2018 World Cup but since then, the team has gone through a major rebuild with a number of senior players dropped from the national pool.

Speaking to German news outlet Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger, Kroos said that he has a very good feeling for the forthcoming European Championship, given the current makeup of the squad. He added that the likes of Leroy Sane, Julian Brandt and Serge Gnabry could be pivotal to the team’s success when the continental competition returns next year.

Pep Guardiola urges England to exclude John Stones from Euro 2020 duty

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has urged England to exclude John Stones from the national team squad with the centre-back struggling to overcome a groin problem. The centre-back has been a crucial player for the Citizens this campaign but he has not featured for the past couple of weeks where he has been on the sidelines.

Speaking to reporters, the Catalan tactician indicated that Stones had made a tentative comeback for the bench against Schalke but he has unfortunately suffered another setback which should keep him out during the international break, he said: “Hopefully he will not go. He is not ready to play, he is injured. Stones made an effort in the last two days before the Schalke game; he was not good. We made a test today [Friday] and he doesn’t feel good, and that’s why he hasn’t trained with us for the past two days.”

Roberto Mancini Confident of Italy’s Euro 2020 Success

Roberto Mancini is of the opinion that Italy will be able to win the Euro 2020 despite having been in a disorganised state over the last few years. The national team has not done well for the last few editions of the major tournaments and it is largely down to a transitional phase with the old guard being replaced with the new.Mancini has taken up the mantle of freshening up the Italian national team squad by focusing on young players and he says that there is a lot of optimism going into the upcoming two major tournaments.

Mancini has admitted that the Italian national team is certainly pass to the trauma experienced after the World Cup. The team are only focusing on the future. Italy have had a decent set of results since October, but Mancini will feel that the team has to improve a lot more if they are to even come close to getting into the latter stages of the Euro 2020. The qualification campaign for Europe begins in March with Italy taking on Finland followed by a game against Liechtenstein. A return of six points from these two matches will be a great start to the campaign, which also sees Italian going up against teams like Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Armenia in the group stages.
